I recently applied for, and was accepted for, a position on Melanie Colbert's Creative Team. What does that mean for me? Free kits! It also means I'll scrapbook more, since it'll be my job to promote her designs. I'm very excited!

Harry Potter?

I am SOOOO excited about the new book AND new movie! P-chan has some time off from work in the middle of July, so we will be going to the movie, half of that courtesy of the Movie Cash I got from buying chocolate at Walgreens in March. LOL

Found a fun game. It's "20 Q" Harry Potter style. If you are familiar with the story thus far, then the "person" theme is quite fun. P-chan doesn't read the books, but he has watched the movies, so he chose a normal item under "things" and thought it was cool. He stumped the 20Q! :D

Yesterday was Big K's birthday. He turned 5!!! The first thing I said to him was, "Happy birthday! You're 5 today!" He paused, then said, "No, I'm still 4. I won't be 5 until I have cake." Good thing that was on my list of things to do, then. LOL Little K gave Big K a present, but I told them we couldn't open it yet, and we got ready for the day.
We went to lunch at the park, then headed over to McDonald's to use some of their coupons. That particular McD's is having their own birthday celebration, so they had free cake! SCORE. As we ate our fries and cake, Big K looked around and then whispered to me, "Mom, I don't know these people."
"That's okay, honey."
"But they're eating my cake."
ROFL So I explained that the building was having a birthday, too. He liked that. And the lady eating lunch across from us gave him a Happy Meal toy. Oh, he was so happy! Little K did well eating his cake, which I was happy about.
Then we went to the bookstore, and Big K got to pick out a book. He chose one about dragons. And we picked up an anime preview book for P-chan.
The boys fell asleep in the car, which I felt relieved about, because the bookstore was at the Mall, and I just learned that the boys + mall = Hell for me. If they weren't begging to buy something, they were screaming, or begging for money for the machines. I did get some great pictures of them sitting on the cool ride-machines, but I don't ever carry cash, so I had no change. I had to literally drag Little K out of the building. And then Big K freaked out because Little K had pushed the button to open the door, which meant he couldn't do it, and all I was trying to do was get to the car before it started raining. aaaagggghhhh! So anyway, they fell asleep in the car. And P-chan was awake by the time we got home, so he carried BigK in, but LittleK woke up. BigK was asleep until almost 8, at which time we made Bob the Builder cookies (it was too late for cake). We also opened the presents (he got 3 more Thomas & Friends trains). Then it was time for bed. P-chan had bed duty, since I was PMS-y. LOL

not healing well ... and some musings

As you may know, I broke my right arm (right at the wrist, but still technically the arm bone) back in March, and had the final cast removed at the end of April. It's now about 6 weeks since the cast was removed, and my wrist does not seem to be healing very well. I can do most things fine, but I cannot turn my wrist very far "in" or "out" without pain. I have to use my left hand for some "personal" things, and I also have some troubles with cooking, carrying things, and hugging (my wrist won't bend naturally so that hand kinda sticks out...go ahead and laugh, it's funny ), and it fatigues very quickly. Tonight I learned that riding my bike is a pain in my wrist. gah!
Anyway, I'll be starting Occupational Therapy for it on Monday. Doc says if it's not showing a marked improvement in 6 weeks, I will have to have my arm re-broken. Yes, on purpose! Then he will want me to stay in a cast for at least 8 weeks, to ensure proper healing. UGH!!!
So send happy thoughts my way, so the OT will go well.

The boys discovered the Pets area at Meijer today. I showed Krillin one of the hamsters that was waking up and stretching. Kenshin was enthralled with the fish, especially the ones with whiskers, and the snails. oh, and also the step stool that the employees use. LOL He is quite short, after all, so he moved it from tank to tank, running commentary of course. Krillin didn't say as much as Kenshin, but they both agreed that having a pet hamster would be nice. On the way home, Krillin told me that the guinea pig wouldn't be as good, because they die. I didn't get the rest of the story until we got home, because he kept telling me to drive faster. Apparently, the little guinea pig that our neighbors had, died. I don't know how long ago, but Krillin told me they buried it under rocks. "So that's why I want a hamster. Mom, you know so much about hamsters!" And he positively beamed at me! *heart melting* "Oh, thank you for saying that, Krillin."
"Yeah! You knew he was stretching! Remember? When he woke up and he was moving around? And he did that thing, and you told me he was stretching! You know so much about hamsters, so I think we could have one. Do we have to buy it?"
"Yes, you have to buy the pets."
"Do we have money for one?" (He is starting to learn that things cost money, and that we usually don't have it.)
"You will have to ask your dad." Okay, so I copped out in the end. I would love for them to have a pet, but after learning that the guinea pig died, I don't know how they would handle that.
Actually, that was the 2nd "death" I handled today. The boys LOVE to watch the lobsters in the tank in the seafood section. When we got there, Kenshin said, "Oh no! There are not too many!" Krillin looked just as dismayed, and he asked where they went.
"People probably bought them."
"You mean for pets?" His eyes shone so bright, I could see what he was imagining. And so it killed me to say, "No, people buy them to eat them."
Kenshin's head whipped to look at me, and he said, "What!?"
Krillin just looked at the tank with his mouth open, his eyes now horror-stricken.
"Yes, some people eat lobster." and enjoy every savory bite, I didn't add.
They both looked at the tank, and after a few moments Krillin said, "Are they like fish?"
"hhhmmm... kinda, yeah."
"How do people eat them?"
"First they have to cook them. I think they do that in a pot of hot water."
"And do they take off the pinchers?"
"Yes, the pinchers come off before they eat them."
*slight pause* "What do they do with the pinchers after that?"
"I....dunno. I guess they throw them away."
"Oh." He thought about that for awhile, but didn't say anything else about them.

It reminded me of his reaction when I told him about chickens. We live in a subdivision of about 100 houses, just off an almost-dirt road in a little town. It's very windy, quite narrow, and if you don't hit a mailbox, you'll probably hit a chicken. I almost hit a chicken, and made a comment about chicken soup. Krillin (from the backseat) said, "hahaha, we don't eat chickens!"
We had just finished a lunch of chicken nuggets, so I laughed and said, "Yes we do."
"No we don't! That's silly! I'm right, you're wrong."
"A lot of people eat chickens. That's where chicken nuggets come from."
"No! Chicken nuggets come from the store."
Touché. "Yes, but they use chickens to make the nuggets, then sell them at the store."
"But those aren't road chickens!"
"What?"
"We don't eat road chickens!"
I had to agree. I certainly have never eaten a chicken that I saw on the road. then I had to add, "Eggs come from chickens."
"ha ha ha! No they don't."
"Yep, they do. The egg comes out of the chicken's butt." I have NO idea where the egg actually comes out of (and I do NOT want to know), I was just trying to gross him out.
"EEEEEWWWW! That's not right. You're wrong. I'm right."
So I used a reference that he would understand. "Remember on Hard Hat Harry, when he said 'what comes first, the chicken or the egg'?"
"yeah."
"That's because the chicken is the egg's mommy. Eggs sometimes turn into baby chicks."
"Do we have baby chicks in our fridge?"
"No, those eggs went in a machine so they won't turn into chicks."
"Nope! I'm right, you're wrong."
I would not have been surprised for him to say he wouldn't eat chicken, but he hasn't mentioned it since. And now that I think about it, he also hasn't eaten scrambled eggs since. ...

TMI: I have a very itchy scalp, and it is seriously driving me insane as of late (esp the last 3 days). I think the heat has something to do with it. I ran out of my prescription (some spray stuff --Kenalog, that's what it is) but I haven't even seen a doctor since we moved here (5 months ago, actually) ---well, I mean for "regular" stuff. LOL I did see a few docs for the allergies from hell and my broken arm. Anyway, every time I call I'm on hold for a very long time, so I haven't actually made an appointment. So when I finally talk to someone, I have to remember to ask for the scalp, and for my wrist.
My wrist is not healing correctly, methinks. I still do not have full range, and it freaks out when I do certain things (read: pain). Plus it's still got the weird bump-thing that bothers me when I write. ugh.
One of the ladies that I visit-teach (for church) and I totally hit it off! :D She has a 7-yo son, and he's so nice. They came to church (hadn't in a while), and for once I was glad I'm in Primary, because I was able to help him feel more comfortable. :)
And she's totally into digital scrapbooking!! FINALLY!!! Someone "IRL" that I can talk about that with. She's actually a beginner, but she's not a total noob because she had been checking out the digi stuff for several months, just saving up money for a new computer and program. Tomorrow she's coming over with her new laptop, and I'm going to teach her how to do a layout. I'm so excited! :D
I can't remember if I posted about this, and I'm too lazy to check...so...I had signed up for a scrapping challenge over at GDS, and I made it to round 2. :) But then I didn't make it to round 3. :( BUT then they asked members to volunteer to write tutorials for beginners...so I signed up. :) I got the first 2 done, and I had forgotten about the reward part -- I got 2 $15 "gift cards" to spend at the GDS store. wahoo! I already spent 1, and I will oogle and oggle some more tomorrow (oh wait, it IS tomorrow -lol). But I have to play with my new stuff before I can spend again. :)
DH and I have started Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover. So the $30 that I just earned to spend at the scrapbook store was really nice! I have to ask someone when they expire, because maybe I should hold off on spending it until the next big sale. hahaha
I am really excited about the TMMO, because for the first time, we have a "recipe" for what to do, and how to do it. There's even a "support forum" (my name for it, lol) at LLNOE. "If you live like nobody else now, you can live like nobody else later." This is so in line with how I WANT to live. When we ordered the book The Total Money Makeover, the nice lady "blessed us" (her words) with the bumper-sticker pack, so I attached one directly to my computer:


I need it, to remind me not to spend anything that's not in the budget. And right now, there's a lot of stuff NOT in the budget. :P We already cut back on the phone bill, and later this month we'll be booting the cable as well.
On a happy note, we finally found a DVD type that our DVD recorder likes, so I have to use some of the groceries budget for that. LOL But we won't starve, because we'll be using our food storage, and I always shop sales anyway.

I am totally freaking out over the last episode of LOST. I mean, OH. MY. WORD!! I'm going to ramble on for a bit now.

SPOILER ALERT
(you can skip this if you don't watch LOST...or you could read it, but it'll be gibberish LOL)

Ben is totally wacked out! Who is this Jacob? Is that all in his head? But Locke heard another voice at the hut, so was that really Jacob? And, geez, the dude that found Ben in the jungle 30 years ago, is still young looking? What's up with that? AND oh my word, Ben SHOT LOCKE!!! *imagine me with really wide eyes* Locke is totally dead. But wait, Sawyer and him (at the pirate/slave boat) were less than a day's walk from the beach, AND from the camp that the Others set up. Ben took Locke another way back from the hut, but I still think it's not that far, and perhaps Sayid and them will find him. On the other hand, I've read that 5 characters (including 3 Others that we're not attached to) die before the end of the season...I will be sad if they off Locke. ... unless...hmmm...unless he doesn't stay dead. They brought back Jack's father (and the coffin was empty, remember???) season 1 {and he totally said something to Jack like, "don't you know where you are?" just like Locke's father said to Sawyer and Locke}....and this ep, they brought back Ben's mom. ... I was very weirded out by Ben killing his father {though I laughed when they showed his name, and realized he was the skeleton they found in the van, with all the beer}....and everyone else in the Dharma Initiative being killed. That explains what happened, but not how -- or WHY -- they're all still doing the work. I mean, why kill everyone and then take their place? Wouldn't that be fishy to the person fronting the bill? Oh, and natives?? How can they be natives? Ben's father said they had guns, so did they steal them from Dharma? And was the dude that was originally in the Hatch (prior to Desmond) part of the Others, or part of Dharma? Wouldn't he have told Ben about the boat, if he was Other? And if he was Dharma, how the heck did he get there? How long was he there? ... I made the comment to P-chan about 2 episodes ago that no other person on the show consistently disappointed me more, than Juliet. Then she went and helped Sun, and I was happy. Then she recorded the tape for Ben, and I sulked. Then she said "I hate you" and I was very happy! LOL But then Jack wouldn't let anyone talk to her at the beach, and the she finally admitted to the tape that Sawyer brought back, but it looks like she really does want to stop the Others from taking Sun. What has Jack decided??????? oh, the sweet agony of suspense!! LOL

In other news, I am a contestant in the Supreme Team contest at Go Digital Scrapbooking. I made it to the 2nd of 4 rounds. :) You can see my first layout here. I have not finished the one for this round, but I will update on that when it's done.

I totally love LOST, but I cannot stand commercials {personally, the only time I watch commercials is during the Superbowl} It's the same with all TV shows. Plus, the munchkins running around...and the 10pm start time (that part doesn't bother ME, but it's too late for P-chan)...we started watching it online. Problem is, we watch it several days later....sometimes even weeks later. LOL The main problem with this is that I can't read the blogs or articles about the show, because of the spoilers. aargh!! I did find some nice wallpapers. The stock bamboo shoots just weren't doin' it for me. LOL

my right arm is begging to have something wrapped tightly around it! It hates the air, it hates being touched, and for the love of chocolate, it really hates me asking it to do things that it hasn't done for 5 weeks.

and it is molting dead skin like a snake. I am not exaggerating. I keep applying lotion (and it screams the entire time) to make it less icky, but it just goes on shedding. ick!

My sister Karen and her family are coming for a visit next week!!! I am soooo excited! She's a Stampin' Up rep, so I'm going to host a little get-together, and we will make cards!! I love that. They get here Friday, I think mid-day, and I don't know what she has planned for that day. yeah, she did the planning, I just said, "heck yeah! oh, oops, I broke my arm." Then Saturday we'll go to the Temple, then the Louisville Slugger Museum and Tour, then the card party. wahoo!! Sunday will be quieter, what with church and all. :) Then I think they leave on Monday. She homeschools her 3 boys (ages 14, 12, and 10 I think), and they are doing a Church History/US History tour. She is excited, I know. PLUS, her hubby just retired from his job, so he's going on the trip too. how cool is that!

It took 2 hours to get the boys asleep tonight. At 10pm, I noticed that P-chan never came back from the bathroom (we were watching TV together) and Kenshin said "Daddy is on your own bed." grrrrreeeeaaaaattt! So I got them in the room, read them a story, sang a few songs (think twinkle, twinkle), then got them sippy cups with water, and said good night. After a few minutes, Krillin called me back in for prayers. Then I said good night. Then both boys demanded milk! So I got it, and said good night. Then Kenshin called me in because his milk tasted funny. I changed the sippy top (because the milk was FINE) and he was happy. So I said good night. Then Krillin reminded me that I had to turn on the music. So pushed play on the stereo (the 7-CD changer filled with classical music) and said good night. Then Krillin asked me to come back in and say scriptures with him. I could only remember 2, so between sobs, Krillin explained that Daddy knows more, and I should know them. Yes, I should know them, but it's after 11 by this time, and I was very cranky. So I told him we'd read them tomorrow, and said good night. After several times going in to comfort them, I tried separating them: Kenshin with Daddy, and Krillin on the couch (I was trying to work on the computer). Krillin fell right asleep, but Kenshin pestered Daddy, so I had to take him back to his own bed. Then I had to re-arrange his "ammals" because his fussing had moved them. At 11:43, I was able to sit down again, and here it is 1 hour later, and I haven't heard a peep from anyone. good. so much for waking up early.

now I have to get dinner ready...for some reason, P-chan doesn't think dark chocolate M&Ms make a full meal. *shrug*

Have you seen HP's Activity Center? It is jam-packed with printable stuff, like cards, wrapping paper, gift boxes, scrapbook pages...the list goes on and on!!! My new favorites are the Shrek III self-mailers!! so cute! And I just found these very pretty fortune boxes; you know I love Asian-themed anything. :)

My favorite digi-designer of all time, Saskia Bokkers, has departed from The Daily Scrap. I'm sad, because her chats were always fun! Though...I haven't been able to attend them, ever since I loaded the new java. grr. But I vowed to follow her wherever she went!! Right now she has several items in the 99-cent Potato Bar at Polka-Dot Potato. I bet you'll find some digi-designs you'll love.

Yesterday I did some scrapbook pages, and even designed a template in PSD format. I like scrapbooking! Now that I have a computer that isn't mucked up with too many programs, and has the speed for the program, I know I'll be doing it more.

So, last night, for the first time in forever, I went to bed on time. That means by 11, for those that don't know. :P Then I woke up with P-chan (before 6:30). crazy! Anyway, it was very odd...watching the sun come UP as I checked my email and wandered my way on the internet. And, I was awake before the boys...it was a strange sensation indeed! If I last the entire day awake, I may do this again tomorrow. :D

And now I need to catch up on HEROES. I caught up on LOST, on Monday. I'm eagerly awaiting the new episodes of Monk and Psych... is this too much TV? nah! ;)

What were you doing 10 years ago?
I had just gotten my GED, and was working full-time at McDonald's (and I loved it!). The GED was because I had to take an incomplete in 2 college classes I was taking concurrently with HS classes, and the HS counselor told me I'd have to make up the PE classes that had been waived for 3 years. um...what?? no thanks. thus the GED. I was beginning to entertain thoughts of being a nanny in New York.

I broke my arm! yes, it's the arm I write (and type) with. no, I'm not suing the shopping place I was at....yet. Yes, I had lots of fun pain meds. LOL
Short story: I slipped and fell while at a home improvement store, and caught myself with my right arm. Snap. Pain became unbearable, and I asked them to call an ambulance.
BUT I know you want all the details! So here it is, the illustrious story of how I broke my arm!

NOT for the faint at heart!
David and Emily were coming for a few days, since they are moving to North Dakota (from Florida). We just moved here (Kentucky) a few months ago, and I still haven't organized my craft room....there are boxes upon storage buckets of scrapbook stuff and sewing stuff. You know those 18-gallon storage buckets? There are about 25 of them...yeah! anyway, I wanted to organize them, so we went to Lowe's to buy shelves. We had one of those flat carts, and all the items on it. One of the wall braces was falling off, and I went to kick it back on. And while my right leg was off the floor, my left foot lost its footing, and I fell. I landed on my right arm, and it really really hurt. I thought it was just going to feel better, so when the employee came over, I told him I was okay. P-chan helped me sit up, and the pain in my arm just kept getting worse. I pulled back my sleeve and realized it was swollen, so I told P-chan to tell them to call an ambulance. At this point, I was in so much pain I couldn't stop crying. They got a wheelchair for me, and somehow got me into it. P-chan and the manager filled out some paperwork while I bawled. I can only imagine what other people were thinking as they passed me...I'm in a wheelchair, bawling, with nobody really paying attention to me, and P-chan is trying to distract the boys.
So the ambulance got there, and as they walk in, P-chan asked me, "So, do you want me to buy this stuff?" I asked him, "Are you going to install them?" "uh...no." "Then no!"
So the paramedics got to the wheelchair and asked where I was injured. I pointed to my right wrist. The girl asked if I could take off my jacket, and I just laughed hysterically and said no. "Then we'll have to cut it off." Now, this is my leather jacket that I got a freakin' awesome deal on. "Then yes, I can take it off." So we got that off without hurting my wrist too much, and they moved me to the stretcher. Then, this trained paramedic-chick decided to take my pulse on the injured wrist!!!! I screamed and yelled at the top of my lungs, "What is wrong with you??!!" She apologized, but the pain was too much for me. "I'm going to pass out." So then she said, "Try to wait until we get to the truck." I don't know if she was trying to be funny, but I mentally named her Stupid Girl. The other paramedic got me an oxygen mask, and I was able to stay conscious. At this point we are ready to go to the truck, and P-chan asked me whether to follow with the boys, or to find a baby-sitter, and I requested the sitter. I was sure this wouldn't be pretty. But it was after 9:30 at night, so I wasn't sure who he would call. Then they told us that because we were at the southern end of the county, we would be going north for a hospital -- even though the actual closest hospital was only 3 miles to the south!! ugh!
In the ambulance, it was very bumpy. And they couldn't give me any pain meds. And my oxygen mask kept falling off, until they fixed it. AND they kept asking me questions!! Like where I live, my insurance, etc. AND they couldn't hear me well because of the mask, so they kept asking me to repeat myself. aaaaagggghhh! I finally shoved my wallet at them and said, "This is what you need. Now let me breathe." Stupid Girl didn't know how to splint my arm (she tried to take off the orange wrapping, DUH), so it took longer than it should have. We finally got to the hospital, and by this time I was much calmed down, but still in pain. The paramedics turned me over to the hospital staff, reporting an "obvious disfiguration to the right wrist." gee, really??
I guess it was around 11:00pm by this time. They got me to a room, and I finally got a demerol shot about half-hour later. Then they took x-rays. Boy, THAT was fun. not! They had to remove my splint, and then twist my arm into odd positions. Well, they seemed odd and painful because my arm/wrist was broken. Then I got to watch TV for a bit. It was after midnight, and I called a nurse in. "Two things. I have to use the bathroom, and can you find out where my husband is?" It was a male nurse, so he said he'd get someone else to help me with the bathroom, but he'd call P-chan for me. On the phone, P-chan assured me that the boys were fine with friends from church, but he had had trouble getting directions to the hospital.
He got to the hospital around 12:30, and they STILL had not splinted my arm. and I STILL had to pee!!! The nurse finally came in and gave me a shot of morphine, and then splinted my arm and they discharged me, with a prescription for Vicadin. I was surprised, because I expected a cast, and they explained that the cast would have to be done by an orthopedic surgeon, due to the proximity to the wrist, and the swelling. So, the first thing I did (with P-chan's assistance) was shuffle down the hall (in my socks, LOL) and go to the bathroom. Then we walked to the car and tried to figure out where the nearest 24-hour pharmacy was. We finally found a Rite Aid. By this time, it's almost 2am. The pharmacist asked if I'd ever taken Vicadin, I said no, and he asked how I react to medicine, so I told him I get loopy on Robitussin. "Oh! You're a cheap drunk! ahahahahahahaha" yes, thanks, laugh at the lady in pain. {turns out I had taken Vicadin, when I got all my wisdom teeth removed 6 years ago, but I only knew it by the generic name, hydrocodone} So by the time we got home and got me settled on the couch, it was about 3am. This became a magical hour for me, because I got to take my pills at 3, 9, 3, and 9. LOL
The rest of the weekend is a haze. I know that the boys came home the next day, and the same family (that watched them) brought us pizza...I was thirsty all the time, and I was convinced that my right thumb had also sustained some damage, because I couldn't move it and whenever the boys bumped it, it was like I had broken my arm again. But I spent most of the time asleep. P-chan asked me to sit on the bed while he folded the laundry, and I had taken my pill about 10 minutes before. I remember talking with him, and the next thing I know, I can hear him, but my eyes are closed, and I was too tired to respond. I'm sure I was drooling, too. ROFL
On Monday morning, at about 8am, he called the surgeon that the hospital recommended. I was foggy, but I heard him say, "Yes, she needs to have her arm set....What?....What!?....No, I don't think you understand. She is in a LOT of pain, she can't wait until Friday, that would be a whole week....No, thank you. I'll find another doctor." So he called to doctors on Fort, and they said they could get me in at 10. That gave us enough time to get the boys ready, and leave. About halfway there (it's a 45-minute drive), I asked P-chan where my pills were, because it was after 9 and I was in a lot of pain. The color in his face drained and he said, "I forgot it." great. So we finally get in to the office, and I know it's partly because I was in a lot of pain and hadn't eaten much, but BOY the nurse and doctor seemed stupid. The nurse didn't recognize the name of the hospital we went to, and it was the doctor who "figured it out" that we didn't live ON FORT so of course we didn't go to that hospital. I asked when I could get some pain medicine, and he said I couldn't have any until AFTER they set the bone. Then he said they wouldn't be able to do it anyway, they were overbooked. I looked him in the eye and said, "It is now 8 hours since I had pain medication. I didn't get to eat breakfast, and I'm thirsty. My arm has been broken for over 2 days, and everyone is acting like THEY are inconvenienced. I won't be able to come back tomorrow, because my husband has to leave for 2 days, and I can't drive while I'm hopped up on pain meds. I have guests coming from out of town, and I'd really like to NOT cry the entire time they're here. I need my arm set RIGHT NOW." He just looked at me for a few seconds, then clicked a few things in the computer and told us to go upstairs, with the warning that I could not eat or drink anything because they may have to put me under for the setting, and they don't like unconscious people barfing on them. LOL So then I got more x-rays, and we waited for the Setting Room to have space, and there I waited for another half-hour (with no splint).
They FINALLY got someone to set it, but only 1 person, and it's a 2-person job. They asked P-chan to assist. He said okay, but after a few minutes of holding my arm up and watching me wince and cry silently, he looked like he was going to throw up (he's no good in a delivery room, either, let me tell ya!) so they dragged someone else in. The WORST part was when they had the bandage-stuff on, and had to SQUEEZE my wrist to make sure it was set properly, while the bandage hardened. I definitely felt the room spinning then.
So that's it! The cast was on, I could eat, drink, and take my drugs.
Of course, P-chan had to be out of town for the next 2 days, so it was truly a blessing when Emily and David were there. To be a good host (ie, awake!), I didn't take any meds during the day, but I sure did right before bed. They took care of me and my boys, when I should have been taking care of them. Emily even made me Spaetzle, my most favoritest of all her dishes. And when she wanted to hop down to Big Lots (the best offering in our wee town), she even did up my pants for me. 'nuff said.

I'll try to post tomorrow to let you know what I got for the boys and P-chan. I already bought for the boys, but I have to re-shop for P-chan. LOL I had bought him some funny ties and a funny shirt, and then a conversation revealed to me that he doesn't even LIKE funny ties or funny shirts. WT?? Yeah, turns out he just wears them because I bought them for him. How sweet! But now I don't know what to buy him that's within our budget. *sigh*

I applied for the Commentator Team at TDS. The app was late, but I wanted to do the page anyway. It's been a long time since I uploaded any pages anywhere, and I wanted to try the new Scrapbook Flair software. The SF is very easy to use, but it also means simple layouts. I still prefer to use Picture It, and I will continue to learn PSP 7 and X.

Okay! So we're all moved! The house that we put the contract on, went through with absolutely NO wrinkles. Well, the sale didn't have wrinkles, but as always, moving caused some wrinkles. LOL P-chan and Kenshin had to stay behind in FL for 2 days longer, so Krillin and I headed out to sign for the house. The car started being squeaky somewhere in GA, like it would squeak if I hit a bump. We stayed overnight near Macon, GA and then headed north. Now, I don't know if you've ever driven through Atlanta, but BOY HOWDY!! That place is crazy! I mean, I've driven Seattle rush hour, but that was nothin! Atlanta has 8 (yea, that's eight!) lanes on each side of the road!!! Well, okay, for most of it, it's only 5, but for about 1-2 miles, there are 8. crazy! And to make it worse, they overlap the interstates. So, I'm headed north on 75, which overlapped with 85, and then at some point you have to exit to continue on 75, otherwise you'll start going north-east instead of north-west. There's an exit for the HOV lane, and another for everyone else. When P-chan and I drove up to KY to go house-hunting, we totally missed it, and it was awhile before we caught it. whoo-ee! Anyway, this time I paid attention and was in the HOV lane (a.k.a carpool lane), getting ready to exit, when I noticed the flashing lights of a police car behind me. I checked my speed, and I was not speeding, so I did what you're supposed to do: I pulled to the right, to let him pass. But he didn't pass, he followed me, still with the lights on. So I pulled over again, and again, and again, till I was finally in the shoulder and stopped. I was scared, but mostly confused. I knew I wasn't speeding. So the cop walked up to the car and said, "Oh, I'm so sorry, ma'am, I didn't see your son in the backseat when I signaled you, what with all the luggage. I thought you were driving alone. I apologize." So I start laughing, and Krillin says hi to the policeman, and everything was fine. EXCEPT, at this point in the road, I am literally 40 feet PAST the exit for 75. aaaarrrgh!!! So I had to circle back. hehehe
Krillin was such a trooper! He didn't complain about being in the car, he didn't "have an accident" at all, and he told me funny things about the other cars. I was very glad to have him with me.
I have learned a few things to have on-hand when moving into a new house: a charged drill, a charged phone, a good air mattress, a good pillow, something to measure with, a chair, and a modem. Also, do not believe what the phone company tells you. I found this the hardest to take, because in FL, we had a wonderful experience with Verizon. That is to say, I never had a problem. When I upgraded, it was flawless. When they called a few months later to offer us a package with less details and costed less, I was thrilled. When I added the DSL, it was fantastic. For 4 years, I loved my phone company. And now, Windstream has been less than wonderful. The first 3 phone calls, I got a different price, for the same thing. Their website is atrocious. Then, they billed us early (before we even moved in!!!). Then, they neglected to tell us that the DSL wouldn't even be available for another 3 weeks. For 2 weeks, I tolerated dial-up (with a modem that I had to BUY, since we had removed our modem on the 'puter when we got the DSL over 18 months ago). That was the end of it for me. I called the cable company to switch everything. I love my cable company! LOL
Well, I'll fill you in on other stories, but for now I'm headed to bed. I got all my grocery shopping done today, so hopefully I won't have to shop again for 2 weeks. yay!

What? I didn't tell you yet? We're moving to Kentucky!! Tomorrow!! LOL Well, actually the movers come to pack everything, then the next day they'll load it into the truck, then we get a few days for cleaning, then I get to leave with Krillin to be able to close on the NEW HOUSE. Oh, I didn't mention that either? How bad I am!! LOL My camera ate the pictures (I'm so mad I could just...spit!!), so I can't post them. But rest assured that it's cute. And yes, cute means small. :D But it's our first house, so that's okay.

And now for something different...

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot Chocolate, as I'm lactose-intolerant.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Wrapped, but there's not very many from the big man, he leaves some little stuff.

8. When and how did you learn that Santa isn't real? My older sisters told my mom that she HAD TO tell me, when I was going on 10 years old. So they all told me that I would get to help Santa wrap the presents, and I had a blast! Then at one point, I looked around and said, "So, when will Santa get here?" My older sisters laughed (nicely, of course), and then explained why he wasn't there. I was kind of sad at the time, but now I know that was a good age for me to find out.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yep! I would like to start the tradition of new jammies, but it's going on 7 years now, I think I'm too late. lol

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? We just hang the ornaments on one at a time until the poor tree droops. LOL It's a mess and I LOVE it!

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? DREAD!! It's pretty, but I really hate having to actually deal with it. So living in Florida for the last 4 years has been great! :)

12. Can you ice skate? Yep!! nope, I'm not very good, but I LOVE it!!

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I got a quilt from my parents! I was 13.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? It's Jesus' birthday!

Hi there! I bought my camera yesterday. It's an unknown brand to me, but it was less than $50 INCLUDING the 512MB card, after the rebates, so I decided to take a chance on it. I got it at ecost.com, which is offering $10 off any $30 order (before shipping) when you use Google checkout. sweeeeeeeet. Last week, I bought P-chan's Christmas presents from Buy.com, which right now is offering $20 off $50 order (before shipping) when you use Google Checkout. PLUS, there is no limit to the number of times you get the discount, it just has to be multiple orders that qualify. When I made my purchases last week, it was only $10 off $30, so this is a much better deal! I almost wish I had more to buy. LOL

I was on the phone with my DSL provider for over 6 hours yesterday, over 4 phone calls. ugh!!! I have parental controls set, and for some reason, I (the master account) could not log on, but all the others could. I eventually had to re-install the port, which took over 40 minutes. Good thing I'd installed the external hard drive, because the re-install of the DSL took a lot more space than the original, and I still had to "emergency" move a lot of files. *sigh* Well, at least it's done with, and everything is working okay. On a "it's funny now" note, one of the customer service rep's tried to tell me that my Internet Explorer is what controlled my parental controls, and since I couldn't access the internet with IE, that is why my DSL wasn't logging in. what the freak?? Then she kept telling me that parental controls weren't set, since the command prompt I typed in the CMD kept coming back as nil. Later I found out she was telling me to type it in the wrong spot. ... I hate her. LOL

Thanksgiving was great! :) And the day after was exhausting! LOL

Okay, first the food: GINORMOUS turkey (27 pounds, and only 10 people, LOL), gravy (made with pan drippings), yeast rolls, red jello, green beans with onions (which I had to pick out), stuffing (which had onions, so I couldn't eat! LOL), yams and blueberries (very different but YUMMY), and my special mashed potatoes. I went over to my friend's house for the giant feast, and another 2 families also showed. We're all military, and it's the last T-Day we'll all have together, as I am moving in 5 weeks. For dessert, another family came over, and we had pumpkin pie, cheesecake, and chocolate cake (because my bday is the 24th). :D yum!!! Then we played a roaring 7 rounds of Catch-Phrase (girls vs guys). I LOVE that game!! I will have to buy it. :)

For the sales: I truly HAVE to get a new camera (I've been without one for over 2 months), and an external hard drive is a close second, so that's what we went out for.
Since we have 2 cars this year (first post-T-day that we've had 2 cars), I went to CompUSA while P-chan went to Best Buy. P-chan reports that BB had a line ALL around the store, then winding across the parking lot. And they'd only let people in a group at a time, to stop the mobbing. Police were there, etc. And then the employees came out and announced that such-and-such was out of stock, and people would leave the line. LOL
When I got done at CompUSA (it only took me 10 min, once the doors opened), I headed over to our rendezvous spot, armed with my walkie-talkie, and after waiting for about 15 min, I decided to go find my husband's car and leave him a note. I found the car, was writing the note, and P-chan walkie-talkied and said he was driving out. LOL I had "found" the wrong car!!! Good thing I didn't get to leave the scrawled love note written on the coupon. So I started driving over to Target, and while maneuvering the parking lot, a car HIT me!! She totally backed up into my car!!! I was so stunned, I didn't even honk. Then she pulled in the parking spot, so I pulled in behind her, imagining all sorts of damage. Turned out my car didn't have a SINGLE scratch!!! Man, I am LOVING my old, plastic bumper!! LOL Her car didn't have any damage either, so I said, "Next time, check your rear view mirror." and got back into my car. Then we headed over to Target.
We ended up with 3 external hard drives (one is no-name brand, so we're probably returning it), an LCD flat screen for the computer, and some items for the move -- air beds, car emergency kit, and luggage (with snazzy 360-degree wheels, NICE). Notice I did NOT get a camera. LOL I'll have to buy that online this week. I had wanted to buy some long-sleeved shirts at Target, but they didn't seem to have them. :( BUT I did get Spiderman 2 and Batman Begins, for $4 each. They also had the Harry Potter movies for $4, but they were only in full-screen, and I'm a widescreen-movie kinda gal. I was sooooo tempted to buy Nanny McPhee, but the cheapskate in me won over (it was priced at $9). Then P-chan took the boys home, and I went over to Sears for some Christmas presents for E's daughters. And, amazingly, that's all I bought there!!! LOL I got home around 9:30.
Getting up at 4am was making me tired, but I let P-chan sleep until about 11, then the boys decided to lay down, and so did I. I slept until 4pm, and then decided to do all the returns from the shopping I'd done on Wednesday, and take a carload of stuff to the thrift store. I didn't get home until around 8, and by that time, I was exhausted again. AND, Fed-Ex decided not to deliver our packages (even though I called them that morning!!!) because of "a local holiday" (P-chan reported). Well, all I can say is, they better get it here on Monday!! *grrr* ....because I have to return one of them. teehee, it was an external hard drive, but I got a much better deal on Friday.

So how many gifts still need to be bought? I think it's 5 now. Not bad, for a starting list of 30. :D

okay, so I'm probably old enough to stop talking about it, but I really like it when people call me to wish me happy birthday!! :) So thanks to everyone who called today! Even if I wasn't home and you had to talk to my voicemail. :P

update on Kenshin: he's doing great! He still has allergies, but the worst is definitely over, and we're only doing the breathing treatments about every other day now. Eventually, he won't need them. I'm exhuasted. TTYL.
